This statue commemorates the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The figure is made of titanium steel and is 102 metres high. The shield is decorated with the state symbol of the USSR. The sword in its right hand warns its enemies to keep away. The statue sits high on a hill and can be seen from almost anywhere in Kiev.
